SIBU: Sixteen students from Catholic High School here who achieved excellent results in the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) 2023 received incentives from the Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Bukit Assek Service Centre.
According to Bukit Assek assemblyman Joseph Chieng Jin Ek, the incentives came from his Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) funds.
“I believe that this incentive is like an investment in education because only through education can we change the future of our students,” he said at the incentive presentation ceremony held in the school here today (June 24).
He added that incentives were also given to three other secondary schools in his area, including Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Methodist, SMK Sacred Heart, and SMK Bukit Assek.
For the record, a total of 233 outstanding SPM 2023 students in the Bukit Assek constituency received incentives amounting to RM85,900.
Earlier, Catholic High School principal Brother Anthony Tay, expressed hope that the rewards would motivate other students.
“I urge Form Three and Form Five students to make thorough preparations for the 2024 public examinations,” he said.
