KUCHING: The Dato Paran Cup Dayak Team Badminton Championship is set to take place this Saturday (Nov 25) at the Sibu Indoor Stadium, bringing together 11 teams from various clubs in Kuching, Sibu and Miri.
The tournament, organised by Borneo MA Smart Vendor Sdn Bhd in collaboration with the Sarawak Sports Corporation (SSC), will feature three categories in its inaugural edition: open, veteran, and senior.
Dato Andenson, managing director of Borneo MA Smart Vendor Sdn Bhd, shared details about the event.
Initially planned as a two-day competition spanning Saturday and Sunday, Andenson explained, “Since only 11 teams have registered so far, it will only last one day.”
He also noted that if the team participation reaches a total of 16, it is not impossible for the competition to be extended to two days.
Teams interested in participating still have the opportunity to register, as the deadline for registration is tomorrow.

Highlighting the exclusive participation of Dayak players, Andenson emphasised the exciting prizes at stake.
The winning team will be awarded RM2,000 in cash, along with a trophy and medals. The runner-up is set to receive RM1,200 in cash, including medals.
Teams that reach the semi-finals and secure joint third place will each be rewarded with RM550 in cash and medals.
