KUCHING: A Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) exco member who openly said that Pakatan Harapan (PH) would lose if the general election was to be held tomorrow is a concerned and a worried member, said political analyst Datuk Peter Minos.

Noting that the party’s chairman and Prime Minister Tun Mahathir Mohamad was not amused by the comment and hinted he would take action against any dissenter in Bersatu, Minos added, “The Bersatu exco member might have felt he had to say that aloud or it would be too late.

“He must also have heard and knew that Bersatu and PH as a whole were becoming unpopular and in trouble and that Malaysians across the board were disappointed and unhappy with the party.”

Minos told New Sarawak Tribune, “Everyone knows PH has deliberately broken the pledges and promises it made to Malaysians before and even after the last general election.

“PH openly promised to reduce the cost of living by removing the goods and service tax (GST).

“This promise did not come true. Instead, even though GST was gone, prices of goods and services continued to be high, causing real financial hardship to Malaysians, especially the low-income groups.”

Next was the promise to improve the national economy, said Minos. But this, too, was not kept. Instead the economic situation continued to be unstable, resulting in the fall of the ringgit value and Malaysians facing increased difficulties in getting jobs and better incomes.

He added that that businesses were also in doldrums.

On the socio-political front, Minos said Malaysians in Peninsular Malaysia also faced many issues which dampened the economic and general mood.

“In the meantime, PH has been giving excuses after excuses for not keeping its promises and for covering its weaknesses and failures,” he added.

According to Minos, PH leaders were blaming the past and previous government but did not come up with any credible and workable initiatives and even ideas itself.

He said policies and strategies that could boost the economy were not forthcoming.

“All we Malaysians see and hear are inaction and lacklustre moves that solve nothing.

“All are aggravated by some ministers saying petty and silly things, by some government people disagreeing among themselves in public, by the PH government skirting issues and problems that need solutions and by those on top lacking focus and ideas of what to do,” said Minos.

Thus, he said Malaysians including PH members were becoming jittery and worried. They were disappointed, if not disillusioned by the federal government.
