KUCHING: The younger generation, especially those aged 18 and above, are urged to exercise their constitutional rights.
In making this call, Sarawak DAP chairman Chong Chieng Jen said that the youths, especially, are encouraged to keep abreast of the country’s latest development.
“They (the youths) will be the first batch of Undi18, that’s why I emphasised exercising their constitutional rights.
“They should also know the government policies and more about politics even if they might not want to be involved.
“On this occasion, I am not persuading the younger generation on who to vote but just to exercise their rights to vote,” he told the media after officiating at the presentation ceremony of Outstanding Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) Achievement Awards here, yesterday.
On the incentives, he said this is to give recognition to the good effort by the recipients in their studies with more such incentives presentation ceremonies to be held by the Bandar Kuching and Stampin service centres in the future.
Chong, who is also Stampin MP, congratulated the 50 SPM graduates – the third batch of 300 top achievers – in attendance and wished them all the best in their future endeavours.
