KUCHING: The proposed Bau Gallery has already secured materials for exhibition.
Deputy Minister of Transport cum Tasik Biru assemblyman Datuk Henry Harry Jinep said the gallery is currently undergoing infrastructure preparations.
“Once the infrastructure, including the building itself, has been upgraded and prepared, then the content will follow,” he told reporters after the prize giving ceremony of the 40th Premier Sarawak Cup ITF World Tennis Tour Junior J300 at Sarawak Lawn Tennis Association (SLTA) centre here Sunday (Apr 28).
However, he noted that the expected timelines for completion are subject to the procedures and processes required by implementation agencies.
“When dealing with implementation agencies, there are specific processes and procedures that must be followed.
“These steps include planning, design approval, and various engineering checks. This process can take one to three years or longer; there’s no shortcut,” he said.
The Bau Gallery, upon its completion, will showcase the rich tapestry of life in Bau’s multi-racial and religious community, spanning both historical and contemporary narratives.
It aims to promote Bau’s heritage, culture, and history while also positioning itself as a regional tourism attraction.
The location for the gallery is the State Government Quarters No. 6, situated along Jalan Penghulu Durin adjacent to the Bau District Office.
