Exhibition on 3D sculptures to be held this Saturday

SIBU: Pusaka Negeri Sarawak (Pusaka) here will hold the Sarawakiana Exhibition: 3D Sculpture Sea Life in cooperation with SMK Bukit Assek which will feature 20 3D Sea Life sculptures.

In conjunction with the exhibition, the opening ceremony will be held at Pusaka Sibu’s seminar room on Saturday (July 6) at 9.30 am.

According to Pusaka Sibu’s media statement yesterday (July 4), the Sarawakiana exhibition will last for a month starting July 1 until 31.

The exhibition features 3D sculptures produced with the technique embossing, using recycled materials such as newspapers, tissue paper and boxes.

All the works on display were produced by former students of SMK Bukit Assek.

“There are two representative teachers of SMK Buku Assek who have collaborated with Pustaka Sibu for this programme, namely Nik Sina Sura Nik Abdullah and Sia Pik Khoo.

“Nik Sina is a Visual Arts Education teacher for the school. She pursued her studies in the field of Textile Design in Universiti Technologi Mara (UiTM) in 1992 to 1996.  She had also taken up studies in the field of Education at Raja Melewar Teachers College in Negeri Sembilan in 1997 to 1998, and has continued her career as an art teacher to this day.

“Meanwhile, Sia is a graduate in the field of Education (Science Agriculture). He has also continued his career as a teacher in various subjects including Visual Arts Education at SMK Bukit Assek, and has been involved in various STEM activities at the school, state, national and international levels,” the statement added.
