KUCHING : The Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) plans on proposing the idea of ‘Rahmah’ to the banking and insurance sectors in an effort to lessen the burden borne by the people.

According to its minister, Datuk Seri Salahuddin Ayub, a meeting and engagement session with players from the two sectors is planned to be held in the near future.

Salahuddin added that there are indeed suggestions in that direction of expanding the Rahmah concept to other sectors after his ministry introduced this concept in the food sector.

He said this at a press conference after launching the Inisiatif Pengumpulan Barangan Pakej Ramah at Everrise Metro City, Matang, here today (Feb 18).

“I will hold a meeting with banks and insurance companies to determine what packages they can offer to help alleviate the burden on the people,” he said.

He added that 38 Sarawak businesses have registered with KPDN to offer the Rahmah Menu – RM5 meals.

“The public can obtain the names of the premises from the ministry’s portal while the Rahmah mobile app is currently being developed.

“In the meantime, we will try to include the list of premises in the MySales Tracker app,” he added.

Salahuddin also praised Sarawak traders who adopt the ‘Rahmah’ concept and introduce new products like bread, perfume, kuih lapis, chicken rice, sushi, and more.

Everrise introduced Rahmah packages, which are hampers with multiple sets of goods sold at a discount.
