KUCHING: Fans of the South Korean K-drama ‘Full house’ and Hollywood movie, ‘Speed Racer’ and ‘Ninja Assassin’ will now be able to meet South Korean K-pop icon and film star Rain in person at a Meet and Greet on Aug 4.

Rain will be making an appearance at the Asean International Film Festival and Awards (AIFFA) 2023 as the Star Celebrity which will be held from Aug 2 to 4.

The announcement was made at the opening movie premiere for AIFFA, ‘Sumpahan Jerunei’ yesterday (July 20).

Present at the opening movie premiere was Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Datuk Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah.

The meet-and-greet session will be held at the Old Courthouse Gardens on Aug 4 at 3.30 pm. Those who would like to see more of Rain can also attend the AIFFA 2023 Gala Night.

Tickets are on sale through the AIFFA’s Facebook page, website or contact Ros at 017-6306851 and at the AIFFA Booth  at the Old Courthouse starting from Aug 2 to 4.

Abdul Karim also took the opportunity to invite members of the public to attend the three-day festival to enjoy the various events and film screenings which are free at the Old Courthouse.

Festival director Livan Tajang said in a statement that the AIFFA management’s decision to invite Rain as the special AIFFA 2023 guest was based on his phenomenal talent as portrayed through the creative industry and performing arts which has also helped attract millions of visitors to South Korea and create an interest globally for all things Korean.

She said his exceptional talents span the music and film industry as he is a singer-songwriter, actor and music producer.

“He has worked in films in South Korea and also for Hollywood. He is also known for his philanthropy work and has performed and put together many events and concerts for various charitable causes,” she said.

Livan also said many Asean movie stars and film directors will also be attending as they are vying for the AIFFA awards and has invited those who are interested in films to attend the festival as most of the activities are open to the public and are free of charge.
