KOTA SAMARAHAN: The Ministry of Transport is satisfied with the facilities and services at the new Puspakom Kota Samarahan branch and expects a more efficient customer service when fully operational.

Minister of Transport Datuk Seri Lee Kim Shin commended Puspakom Sd Bhd for setting up its own new centre in Kota Samarahan at the Kota Samarahan Industrial Estate.

He said the centre can cater to an estimate of 500 vehicles a day but can increase to 700 if there are demands.

“So, I hope with the new facilities, the centre will be efficient to provide services and commercial vehicles would not have to wait for a long time for an appointment.

“We are also happy with the big spaces here, it will fit in a lot of vehicles. This centre will be operational on Aug 1, hopefully it can provide efficient services for vehicles in Kuching and Kota Samarahan,” said Lee during his visit to Puspakom’s new inspection centre here this morning.

In addition, Puspakom Malaysia head of Division (Operations) Dr Ahmad Zahiri Ismail said there will be a new service by Puspakom for the first time in Sarawak.

Its new mobile inspection service will be effective in September this year for Kuching and Samarahan areas.

“This service has already been implemented in West Malaysia and this is the first time in Sarawak, where we will send our team to inspect our customers’ vehicles at their locations.

“This service is especially for transfer of vehicle ownership and special inspection. So, this will be convenient for our customer as they do not need to come to the inspection centre,” he said.

Appointments can be made online for the services, however, Ahmad said that the fee for the service is still being finalised.

Puspakom Kota Samarahan also provides one stop centre service for customers to renew insurance and motor vehicle licence (road tax) at available counters after completing the vehicle inspection.
