JULAU: School leavers have been urged to make the most of career and education opportunities.
In making the call Julau MP Datuk Larry Sng said Technical and Vocational Training (TVET) can be a viable platform given its
marketability.
He said this at the district level Career and Education Day programme at SMK Julau, Today (Aug 19).
He said the Ministry of Education’s desire is to be a catalyst to produce a reliable young Malaysian workforce capable of facing all challenges in the present and future.
Meanwhile, Julau Education Officer Dali Rain said efforts to shape the young generation should be implemented comprehensively and integrated with sustainable efforts.
“With this programme, it is hoped that parents and graduates of SPM and STPM students can explore, find and gather career and education information that suits their interests, careers and individual personalities.
“Students need to be exposed to information about the educational opportunities available in our country, especially in Sarawak,” he explained.
Among the exhibitions participating in the programme are Yayasan Sarawak, Curtin University, Swinburne University of Technology, Centre Of Technical Excellence Sarawak (CENTEXS), Sarawak Skills, Kolej Laila Taib, International College of Advanced Technology Sarawak (ICATS), Universiti Teknologi Sarawak (UTS), Sibu Vocational College, Malaysia Fire and Rescue Department, Bank Simpanan Nasional, Bank Rakyat and RHB Bank.
In the same programme, a talk by Yayasan Sarawak also took place to help students get more information about education and employment opportunities after finishing school.
