KUCHING: Suspended express bus, stage bus and express boat services can now begin 100 per cent operations effective Friday (Nov 5).
Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) said the decision was made based on approval from the Sarawak Ministry of Transport.
“After considering the high percentage of Covid-19 vaccination recipients statewide, the application from the Sarawak Bus Transport Companies Association (SBTCA) was approved by the state Public Transport Committee (SPTC) during its meeting on Oct 21.”
The express bus, stage bus and express boat services all played a vital role in supporting the state’s economic recovery process, especially in transporting passengers as well as goods and services, SDMC added.
“The decision is also in preparation for the transistion period from pandemic (Phase 3) to endemic (Phase 4) whereby many social and economic activities are allowed.”
SDMC urged all owners and operators to abide by the SOPs once their operations commence.
Meanwhile, 527 new cases were reported on Thursday (Nov 4) with 243,119 cumulative cases and four deaths recorded on Nov 2.
Two new clusters were also recorded, namely the Jalan Sultan Tengah Rampangi Kuching Cluster and the Jalan Ong Tiang Swee Cluster.
Twenty-seven clusters are still active while two clusters, namely Kpg Bunga, Serian Cluster and the Batu 13 Jalan Puncak Borneo Cluster, have ended.
