KUCHING: Sarawak is bracing for continued heavy rainfall until Jan 12.
The Malaysian Meteorological Department (METMalaysia) has issued forecasts indicating persistent downpours in specific regions, including Kuching, Serian, Samarahan, Sri Aman, Betong, Sarikei and Mukah starting Thursday, Jan 11.
Additionally, Pahang (Pekan and Rompin) and Johor (Kluang, Mersing, Kulai, Kota Tinggi, and Johor Bahru) are also expected to witness sustained rainfall until tomorrow.
Director-general of METMalaysia Muhammad Helmi Abdullah said the weather predictions are grounded in comprehensive weather model analyses, anticipating an easterly wind concentration prevailing in the state until Jan 12.
He cautioned that this scenario might escalate humidity levels, resulting in continuous rainfall across the affected areas.
“METMalaysia has revised its continuous rain warning in Sarawak, effective from Jan 11 to Jan 12,” said Abdullah.
He urged the public to stay updated by regularly visiting the official the department’s website at www.met.gov.my, following their social media platforms, and downloading the myCuaca app for the most recent and accurate weather-related information.
