BINTULU: Athletics is one of the platforms implemented in all schools to develop students comprehensively.

Murum assemblyman Kennedy Chukpai Ugon, said to be successful in life a student must also be successful in academics and extracurricular activities.

He said this is in line with the Malaysian Education Development Plan 2013-2025 which remains committed to developing students comprehensively.

“To that end, all programmes and initiatives that develop non-academic components are implemented inside and outside the classroom through various sports and co-curricular activities.

“The Ministry of Education has also stipulated that every student participate in at least one sport, one club and one uniformed body to cultivate talent and interest and form leadership skills,” he said while inaugurating the District Primary School Sports Council (MSSRD) championship on Thursday.

A total of 13 schools from all over Belaga District took part in the championship held at the Apau Koyan Sports Complex, Sungai Asap.
