KUCHING: Kuching City South Council (MBKS) on Wednesday received a donation of 20,000 pieces of facemasks from Quanzhou city in Fujian Province, China.
For the record, MBKS has forged friendship city ties agreement with several cities in China and Quanzhou is one of its “friendship cities” there.
This agreement aims to promote bilateral and mutual understanding between the regions as well as exchanges to develop cooperation in the fields of economy, trade, education, personnel, science and technology, culture, tourism and many more.
Mayor Datuk Wee Hong Seng, speaking on behalf of MBKS, thanked Quanzhou for their generosity.
“MBKS is truly grateful with the kind action as it truly shows the meaning of friendship especially between two cities.
“Showing support toward each other during this difficult time is one proof of existing strong bond between the two cities. A friend in need is a friend indeed,” he said.
