BINTULU: A minor explosion involving a heater occurred at an industrial factory in Samalaju Industrial Park on Sunday but no injuries or casualties were reported.
The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said they were alerted to the incident at 3.12 pm and dispatched firefighters from Samalaju station to the scene.
Upon arrival, the team found that the explosion had affected a combustion engine component.
“There was no active fire or explosion when the team arrived. The fire, which involved a ‘surnes heating’ equipment, had been fully extinguished by factory workers,” the department said.
The situation was brought under control by 3.40 pm, and the team returned to their station shortly after.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
In light of the swift action taken, the department praised the factory workers for controlling the incident, and advised all employees to always follow safety procedures at work to avoid untoward incidents.
