KUCHING: A total of 368 recipients from eight villages in Tupong received donations from the Muslim Welfare Trust Board in preparation for the Hari Raya celebration.
Petra Jaya MP Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof said the assistance was one way to share sustenance to the needy, as well as reap the blessings of the Almighty.
“Ramadan educates us to understand the meaning of the hardships of life that befall the unfortunate.
“At the same time, this month also teaches us to self-reflect ourselves to be better human beings in the future,” he said at the Aidilfitri contribution presentation ceremony organised by the Kampung Gita Matang Muslim Welfare Trust Board at the AL-Taqwa Mosque yesterday (April 29).
He said Muslims were required to give a lot of alms and pay zakat for those who can afford it during Ramadan.
“Through this practice, it is clear that we can cultivate the spirit of helping one another, as well as create a loving soul in the community,” he added.
Meanwhile, Tupong assemblyman Fazzrudin Abdul Rahman commended the cooperation of the parties involved in easing the burden of the target group ahead of Hari Raya through the distribution of donations.
“We will always give attention to the community in the surrounding areas so that no one is left out from receiving assistance.
“After two years of being hit by the pandemic, finally now the standard operating procedures (SOP) have been relaxed.
“Nevertheless, the public is advised to be vigilant and take care of their health and safety to curb the spread,” he said.
