BINTULU: Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof has pledged support for the incoming representative in addressing the people’s concerns and formulating plans for rapid development in Jepak.
He said the ultimate decision lies in the hands of the voters exercising their rights this Saturday (Nov 4) in the Jepak by-election.
Fadillah, who is also the Petra Jaya MP, urged high voter turnout to secure a decisive win for Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS).
“Only then, can we proceed with the plans that have been made and address the people’s issues in Jepak.
“I believe that the Jepak area will experience continued development and economic growth,” he said during a casual engagement with the people in Kampung Kemunting last night (Nov 1).
The Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) senior vice president also stressed that a substantial majority and a resounding victory are necessary for the Jepak representative to have a stronger voice in the Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUN).
As the campaign period for the Jepak by-election nears its conclusion, Fadillah pointed out that it is important for GPS candidate Iskandar Turkee to meet as many voters as possible.
“This is because some voters may still not be familiar with him.
“He needs to tell the people of Jepak that he is not only a local Vaie but also someone dedicated to serving the Jepak area and sharing his vision for the area,” he said.
The coming Jepak by-election will see a three-cornered contest involving GPS’ Iskandar, Parti Bumi Kenyalang (PBK) candidate Stevenson Joseph Sumbang, and Parti Aspirasi Rakyat Sarawak (ASPIRASI) candidate Chieng Lea Ping.
