BINTULU: Support from the people is crucial to ensure that the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) secures a convincing win in the upcoming Jepak by-election on November 4.

Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof asserted that voters must ensure the GPS candidate, Iskandar Turkee, wins with a significant majority.

Fadillah, who is also Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) senior vice president, said a resounding victory for the GPS candidate would effectively represent the voices of the Jepak constituency in the State Legislative Assembly due to their substantial majority.

“I succeeded in becoming the deputy prime minister because of the tremendous support from the people of Sarawak.

“The strong voice of the Sarawakian people has been instrumental in shaping the state government.

“In fact, the federal government relies on Sarawak because, without Sarawak, a united government would not have been formed.

“Therefore, it is crucial for all of you to go out and vote, ensuring a substantial victory for GPS,” he said during a dinner with the Bintulu Melanau Association here last night (Oct 27).

He added that an endorsement for the Sarawak Government, particularly in the Jepak constituency, would also pave the way to continue the legacy of the late Datuk Talip Zulpilip through the chosen candidate.

“InshaAllah, Jepak will progress together. At the federal level, I will ensure that Sarawak continues to advance and receive support from the federal government,” he said.
