PADAWAN: Strong winds and heavy rain uprooted several trees last night (Sept 3), blocking the road to Kampung Tijirak, Siburan and damaging the roof of a house.

Fortunately, no injuries or casualties were reported in the 11.45 pm incident.

A spokesman for the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said they received an emergency call about a fallen tree that caused minor damage to the gutter of the complainant’s house.

Firefighters from Siburan and Serian stations were dispatched to the scene, about 6km away, to clear the trees.

Upon arrival, they found several more trees had fallen, blocking a 400-metre stretch of road leading to the complainant’s house.

The team immediately started to cut the trees along the road and the one that damaged the house.

It was reported that the village development and security committee (JKKK) would clear the remaining debris from the road in the morning.

Once the tree-cutting tasks were completed, the team ended the operation at 2.30
am.
