KUCHING: Two cars and the roof of a longhouse were damaged by falling trees in different districts as a result of bad weather yesterday (Aug 21).
Fortunately, no injuries were reported in Kuching and Song.
A spokesman for the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said the first incident involving a longhouse in Nanga Entawai, Song happened around 2.20 pm
Firemen from Song station who were deployed to the scene confirmed that a tree had fallen on the roof of Rh Banjie.
The team used two chainsaws and a machete to cut the tree before removing the branches from the roof.
Meanwhile, the second incident involving two cars parked at Jalan Ensing Timur, Batu Kawa, happened around 5.15 pm.
Firemen from Batu Lintang station had to use a chainsaw to remove the trees and branches.
Damages to the cars were quite extensive. Fortunately, no one was inside the vehicles.
