KUCHING: The state Federal Agricultural Marketing Authority (Fama) through its corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme yesterday distributed food aid to several institutions of higher learning (IPT) here.
In collaboration with the Modernisation of Agriculture, Native Land and Regional Development Ministry and the Samarahan Area Farmers Organisation (PPK), the event aims to help ease the financial burden of students while helping to top up their food stocks during this movement control order (MCO) period.
“Among the beneficiary IPTs are Politeknik Kuching, Kolej Dahlia of Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (Unimas) as well as Kolej Asia Metropolitan Kuching where each student will receive dry food, local fruits and some Agromas products.
“This is one of our ways to help students who are stuck in their campus after not being able to return home since the MCO came into force on March 18,” said Fama deputy director Abdul Jaafar Lian yesterday.
Abdul Jaafar also advised members of the public to increase their intake of fruits and vegetables in order to improve the body’s immune system.
