KUCHING: A family of four narrowly escaped a fiery death when their car burst into flames in front of Medan Hamidah along Jalan Bako early this morning.
Their vehicle had skidded and overturned onto its side just before the fire erupted. The married couple and their two daughters managed to exit the vehicle safely.
It was reported that the woman and her children sustained minor injuries and were taken to the hospital for further treatment.
Firefighters from Petra Jaya station were promptly dispatched to the scene, about 7km away, after receiving a distress call at 12.42am.
Upon arrival, they found the overturned vehicle engulfed in flames and extinguished the fire using water from the fire truck.
The flames were doused by 1.05am, followed by overhaul work to ensure there was no risk of reignition.
Once the situation was deemed safe, the operation ended at 1.15am.
