KUCHING: Four masked men armed with parangs broke into a double-storey house at 3am yesterday and robbed the occupants.

The house is behind a cold storage at Mile 16, Kuching-Serian Road.

The housebreakers who all wore dark long-sleeved shirts overcame the iron grill of the kitchen to gain entry into the house.

Once inside they then use a gas cylinder to break through the master bedroom door. Then using cables found in the house they tied the 39-year-old house owner and his wife.

They also entered the 13-year-old daughter’s bedroom by smashing the door using the same gas cylinder. She was also tied up.

The house owner’s 83-year-old mother and 17-year-old son were sleeping on the ground floor. The son was tied up while the old woman was left alone.

The robbers then ransacked the house looking for valuables. They took cash amounting to RM3,000, several cellphones of various brands, two gold chains, two gold rings, one gold bracelets, and keys to a Toyota Hilux and a Nissan Ipsum.

The housebreakers use cables to tie up the family members.

Before leaving the house the robbers also took a handbag belonging to the man’s wife. Inside were her office keys and personal documents.
