“Famous” Belaga electric pole to be relocated soon

KUCHING: The issue of an electric pole situated in the middle of the road in Belaga, which went viral on social media, will be relocated soon.
 
Deputy Minister of Utility and Telecommunications Datuk Liwan Lagang gave assurance that the said electric pole located at Kampung Melayu Belaga will be dealt with immediately.
 
“Regarding the issue of the electric pole, it is located there as a result of a newly paved road that is being widened.
 
“We have met Sarawak Energy Berhad (SEB) and requested them to relocate the electric pole, and we will bear all the cost of the relocation,” he said when met by reporters at his office yesterday (Aug 25).
 
Elaborating, Liwan, who is also the Belaga assemblyman, said the widening of the road has benefited the community in the area.
 
“Now, what we can see is that the village has better road infrastructure that can be used by road users,” he said.
