MIRI: Spectators have been granted permission to watch the pencak silat semi-final and final matches at the Miri Indoor Stadium today.

Kamarul Ariffin, head of the technical delegate for the 21st Malaysia Games (SUKMA) pencak silat, said the decision was made after receiving approval from Datuk Megat Zulkarnain Omardin, president of the Malaysian National Silat Federation (Pesaka).

“This decision was made considering the spectators who have travelled from Malaya, Sabah, and other parts of Sarawak.

“Given that the situation has been brought under control and to enliven the Games, particularly silat, the technical and security committee has decided to allow spectators into the stadium,” he told a press conference last night (Aug 22).

However, Kamarul pointed out that spectators must adhere to several conditions, including not bringing any food or drinks into the stadium.

“Spectators are also prohibited from entering the area behind the technical officials where the scoreboards are located.

“Additionally, each contingent must remain in their assigned areas. This ensures that contingents are kept separate from spectators, and security both inside and outside the stadium will be enhanced,” he said.

The semi-final and final matches are scheduled to start at 8.30 am today, with the medal presentation ceremony set for the afternoon.
