SIBU: A farewell ceremony for the Consul-General of the People’s Republic of China in Kuching, Fu Jijun was held at RH Hotel in Sibu On Tuesday. Fu Jijun has served in Sarawak for two years.
Present at the farewell ceremony were chairman of Sibu Municipal Council and Dudong Assemblyman Datuk Tiong Thai King, United Chinese Association Sibu Division president Kong Hian Khim, Sibu Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Indust r y (SCCCI) president Dr Gregory Hii, Temenggong Dato Vincent Lau Lee Ming and local dignitaries in Sibu.
In his speech, Dr Gregory Hii said SCCI members and all the trade associations’ members wished him (Fu Jijun) all the best.
“I feel sad as we have to reluctantly say goodbye to a friend as well as to a Consul General known for this relationship-building and his helpfulness.” “At the same time, we at SCCCI are happy that you will soon be representing the People’s Republic of China as an ambassador.
We hope one day, we will have the opportunity to welcome you back to Sibu should you manage to find time to visit us again,” he said. Dr. Gregory Hii therefore thanks the consulate and its staff. SCCCI has continued to build good relation with the Consulate and develop and expand business between the two regions.
