Accelerating even faster than Kota Samarahan
KUCHING: Sprawling on a 183-acre site in Jalan Matang, Metrocity Matang new township is fast growing, even faster than Kota Samarahan.
Presently, there are 314 shops, mainly eateries, offering varieties of cuisines including Western and Japanese food. Some of the eateries are operating round the clock.
International fast food chains such as KFC, McDonalds and Secret Recipes are also making their presence felt in the area.
The township is surrounded by no fewer than 525 residential houses, not counting new housing estates that are under construction.
Currently, many shoplots are still unoccupied but real estate analysts believe it is only a temporary phenomenon and Metrocity will certainly become a favourite business venue in the not-too-distant future.
Currently, Kuching is estimated to have a population of about 750,000. The figure is expected to soar to one million in a few years’ time. The spillover of the population will certainly come to the area.
In addition, many areas surrounding Metrocity Matang are inhabited by the middle class group that has the purchasing power which makes it conducive for the business environment.
