KUCHING: Tabung Baitulmal Sarawak (TBS) has upgraded its Jejak Asnaf app which is more sophisticated and user friendly to help expedite processing of aid to the needy.
Its general manager Datuk Abang Mohd Shibli Abang Mohd Nailie said the new app Version 3 (JA 3) now allows users to track, report, investigate and check whether a poor person (asnaf) is eligible for aid from TBS.
“With the technology installed in the app, TBS will be able to send aid faster (within three days) after receiving reports via the app by concerned citizens,” he added.
He said TBS welcomed the involvement and cooperation from citizens to report on the needy (asnaf) by using the application in their efforts to ensure that every person who needs help is assisted accordingly.
“This app is what I call cross-border as it will be a medium where everyone can use the app and file reports on those who need help. There will be no issue of why the disadvantaged and the affected people are given any aid if the local communities play their respective roles by using the app.
“Unlike some fake news that go viral on social media, this app will only receive authentic and accurate information as it needs pictures of their house/livelihood, a picture of their identification card, and a set of questionnaires where the artificial intelligence would approve the aid or not,” he said.
According to him, the first version of the app was launched in 2018 and has been upgraded twice.
“Since its first launch, we have received 416 applications through the app to give aid to the needy (asnaf) but only 216 applications were eligible and approved to receive the aid,” he said.
He added that the previous version had won the Sarawak ‘Key Focus Area’ award in 2019.
