SIBU: A jobless man was sentenced to eight years in prison and given two strokes of the rotan by the Sessions Court here yesterday after he pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting his daughter.
The 41-year-old accused, of Jalan Hui Soon was charged under Section 14(d) of the Sexual Offences Against Child Act 2017.
The offence provides for an imprisonment of up to 20 years and also liable to whipping.
According to a brief of the case, on Nov 27, the nine-year-old victim complained to her mother of pain at her private part while urinating.
She however declined to reveal what had happened to her.
The next day at 7.30am, she again felt pain at her private part.
The mother, 29, then brought her to the hospital for a check-up.
The
victim finally revealed that the accused had inserted his finger into her
private part a few days earlier while she was sleeping.
Following a police report lodged by her mother,
the accused was arrested on Nov 28 at the family’s home.
