KUCHING:  A 32-year-old labourer was arrested on Tuesday night for attempting to rape and molest his daughter, a Primary Two pupil, multiple times.

The suspect from Jalan Matang was arrested in his house at 7.30pm.

According to the man’s wife, a 30-year-old  general worker from Matang, she said the last time her daughter was molested was on Monday night.

She wanted to go into her bedroom but was surprised to find it locked. The bedroom was  never locked before.

After the woman forced her way in, her daughter ran towards her crying and saying her father was trying to rape her.

The man denied doing so and the woman then brought her daughter to her grandmother’s bedroom. There, the girl told her mother that her back side was painful as her father was trying to rape her from behind.

After the woman lodged a police report, her daughter was sent to the Sarawak General Hospital for checkup.

After receiving the report, police arrested the man who denied attempting to rape and molest his daughter. He has been detained for further questioning.

In another case, a retiree reported to police that his house at Taman Bong Chin, Mile 2½ was broken into on Monday at about 8 pm. The house was ransacked and in a mess.

The complainant said his fence was damaged and burglars went through the back door to gain entry into the house.

Missing were his laptop costing RM3,000, gold jewellery, land titles, bank fixed deposit slips bank books, car road tax, personal documents belonging to his son and wife and a number of keys.

The victim added that he had not finished identifying all the stolen items. Padawan police chief Supt. Aidil Bolhassan confirmed the case and said they are investigating.
