SIBU: Liana Sari Santud, a student of University of Technology Sarawak (UTS), has a good chance of getting her identity card application approved, including her mother and four siblings.
Minister of Women, Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah said Liana has strong evidence of here status as a Sarawakian.
“Based on her family tree, we found that the issue can be solved as there is proof of citizenship as her grandmother has all the documents.
“In the meantime, she can apply for MyKas as she has the documents,” she said at the presentation of Temporary Personal Documents for Individuals Without Citizenship in Sarawak (DSITKS) to six recipients here today.
The Dalat assemblywoman said the longhouse from which Liana’s mother is from could provide evidence that she and her family are the residents there.
“I have been informed that the son of the longhouse chief is available and willing to support Liana’s citizenship application.
“Upon reviewing her family’s circumstances, we believe we can help her mother and her four siblings.
“We approach each case holistically, focusing on resolving Liana’s case, as well as those of her siblings and mother, all in one go,” Fatimah said.
Liana, who will pursue a degree in accountancy at UTS this September, highlighted her plight on TikTok.
