KUCHING: Tupong assemblyman Fazzrudin Abdul Rahman distributed food to Malaysian Certificate of Examination (SPM) candidates at SMK Matang Hilir on Wednesday.
During his visit, the chief political secretary to the Premier also took the time to give words of motivation to the fifth formers.
“I urge all SPM candidates to work hard and do their best to answer the questions during this examination to ensure their future.
“The SPM is culmination of years of them studying at the secondary level as well as the dedication, hard work and sacrifices by themselves and their families,” he said.
The food distribution programme was organised by SMK Matang Hilir to ensure their SPM candidates are fed during the examination period.
The programme was initiated by the school’s Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) where funds are collected from parents and teachers as well as school staff.
SMK Matang Hilir has 237 SPM candidates and is among 30 schools in the Tupong state constituency where most of the pupils are living in Matang, Sungai Tengah and Gita.
Meanwhile, Fazzrudin hoped that SPM candidates in the school as well as in other schools in Tupong would obtain success in the examination.
“I pray that all the fifth formers would be successful and obtain good results. I also hope that they will continue their studies at a higher level,” he said.
Also present during the school visit were Tupong PBB secretary Zaki Amini; Taman Heng Guan community leaders Mosbi Zaidi and Ahmad Iskandar and SMK Matang Hilir principal and teachers.
