KUCHING: Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Youth’s strong presence at the grassroots level has brought the voices of the young generation to the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) state government.

Deputy Youth chief Fazzrudin Abdul Rahman said the party’s youth wing must remain steadfast and continue its struggle as the youth should and must be heard by government leaders.

“We are glad that PBB Youth has continued to do well and gain strong support from the young people in Sarawak, where there are many other parties vying to attract the young supporters and voters,” he said.

“This is due to our strong presence at the grassroots level and being easily accessible when needed – whether it is in terms of providing assistance, welfare aid or merely contributing our manpower to those around us,” he said.

The Tupong assemblyman who explained that it was these noble values and characteristics that kept the party’s youth wing relevant and complemented other sections of the party, hoped that the younger members would continue to preserve these values to move forward.

Meanwhile, PBB Youth was expected to experience a leadership transition with its deputy chief Miro Simuh leading the party, taking over from Datuk Gerald Rentap Jabu – who had been elected as the party’s senior president.

“It is my ardent hope that with the upcoming transition in youth leadership, we maintain the level of hard work and perseverance,” Fazzruddin said.

“In the future, PBB Youth must continue to be the pillar of the Sarawak government and be faithful to the struggles of the young people,” he added.

At the same time, he said, members must remain committed to their struggle for Sarawakians and fight for Sarawak rights while upholding the ideals of democracy which the nation was built on, he said.

“Finally, we must continue to give our fullest support to the leadership of Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, who is the PBB president,” he said.
