MIRI: A two-day emergency response exercise from May 23 to 24 was held at Pullman Hotel here.

It was organised by Petronas Carigali Sdn Bhd (PCSB) and Majlis Keselamatan Negara (MKN), Sarawak.

The objective of the exercise, ‘EX-Jerung Harimau’, was to test the emergency response plan, coordination and capability between PCSB-Sarawak Asset, as well as other relevant government agencies such as the Malaysia Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) and the National Disaster Management Agency (NADMA).

Said PCSB-SKA head Ruslan Ghani: ‘Petronas is committed to the highest safety and health standards to ensure that the safety of our staff, contractors and community wherever we operate remains our topmost priority.

“Due to the nature of our business, we are constantly exposed to potential incidents. This exercise is part of our continuous effort in ensuring preparedness in the event of any emergency.

“Petronas appreciates the support from all parties in ensuring the effectiveness of the exercise.”

Some 34 federal and Sarawak government agencies as well as Petronas’ Petroleum Arrangement Contracts (PAC) partners such as Shell, Nippon and Sapura OMV, took part in the exercise.
