KUCHING: A new fire station will soon be built here along Jalan Batu Kitang.
According to Stampin MP Chong Chieng Jen, the said application and allocation for its establishment has been approved by the Federal Ministry of Local Government Development.
“I have submitted the application for it in Jan this year. By Feb, the ministry has approved it.
“Now the only outstanding issue delaying the matter is the subdivision process of the land and building identified for the new fire station.
“I applaud the swiftness of the approval within one month. With that, I will continue to follow up on the matter and facilitate between the Fire and Rescue Department (BOMBA) and the State Lands and Survey to expedite the subdivision issue,” he said in a statement yesterday.
Adding on, he said that the locality of the proposed new fire station will also serve the Batu Kawa area given its proximity to certain areas in Batu Kawa.
“At the moment, the Batu Kawa constituency does not have a fire station despite the fact that its second term assemblyman is also the state minister overseeing the Fire Department,” he commented.
