SRI AMAN: A woman died at the Sri Aman Hospital late yesterday afternoon after being involved in a road accident at KM 13 Jalan Sri Aman-Kuching.

Sri Aman District Police chief, DSP Haji Othman Sulaiman said the victim involved in the road accident at 4.30pm yesterday was known as Ervinna Ranis Anak Ringkai, 33.

“Before the incident, the victim, Ervinna from Rumah Panjang Marop Atas, Engkilili, was believed to be riding her motorcycle from Sri Aman to Kuching.

“When approaching KM 13 Jalan Sri Aman-Kuching, a Mitsubishi Triton type vehicle coming from the opposite direction lost control and went into the victim’s way, causing the collision,” he said.

The victim who was hit by a 4WD vehicle, said Othman, was then sent to Sri Aman Hospital using the ambulance of the Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM) here to receive further treatment.

“We were then informed that the victim was confirmed dead by the Sri Aman Hospital here at 7.10pm while receiving treatment due to the accident.

“The case will be investigated under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987,” he said, adding that the accident occurred on the paved road in the rainy weather at that time.

Meanwhile, APM Sri Aman Officer, Captain Siti Huzaimah Haji Ibrahim reported that the victim, Ervinna, was injured in the form of an open wound on the left foot caused by the accident.
