BETONG: A female student was injured after falling from the second floor of a housing complex while trying to open the door of her home.

According to Civil Defence Force (APM) Betong district officer Lieutenant (PA) Mackinly Jores, the victim, Michelle Ann Gerunsin, 18, returned from school and was trying to open the door to her home.

“While trying to open the door of the house where she lived with her sister, she slipped and fell from the second floor of Flat Sri Maludam,” he said yesterday (Jan 20).

He explained that the incident was noticed by a teacher of Taska Permata Betong and a policeman who happened to be near the scene.

Personnel from APM Betong who responded to a call for help arrived at the scene and found the victim was conscious and lying down while in pain.

“Preliminary examination found that the victim suffered injuries to her right elbow and complained of pain in her back,” Mackinly said.

He said the team provided first aid before sending the victim to Betong Hospital for further treatment.
