KUCHING: The wife of Datuk Seri Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, Datin Seri Feona Sim@Norjanah was laid to rest at the Samariang Islamic cemetery at 11.15am yesterday.
Since 8.30am, the home of Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Parliament and Law) at 41 Jalan Tengah, Green Road was thronged with people coming to pay their last respects.
Premier of Sarawak Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg arrived at 8.55am to pay his last respects and joined in the funeral prayer.
Federal Minister for Culture, Arts and Tourism Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri, Sarawak Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Minister Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, Tupong assemblyman Fazzrudin Abdul Rahman were among those who also paid their last respects to the late Feona.
The body of the late Feona was later taken to the Samariang Islamic Cemetery for burial funeral prayers led by State Imam Datuk Mustpha Kamal Ahmad Fauzi.
A grieving Wan Junaidi thanked the people who have helped in his wife’s funeral ceremony as well as those who came to offer their prayers and condolences.
“Thank you to all those who have helped me and my family in arranging my wife’s funeral ceremony and today, everything went smoothly.
“Thank you to the Premier of Sarawak, the state government, mosque representatives as well as the police, the Malaysia Civil Defense, the State Mosque Welfare Trust Board (LAKMNS) and others who have helped with the ceremony,” Wan Junaidi said after the funeral yesterday.
Feona passed away at the age of 70 due to internal bleeding at Borneo Medical Centre, Kuching on Friday evening.
