KUCHING: The Telaga Air Regatta Festival 2023 is not just a mere celebration event but also a platform to unveil development plans in this area.
Kuching District Officer Sofhi Jebal stated that through the event, being held from Dec 1 to 3, planning information would be presented to visitors, particularly the local community.
“Therefore, we are presenting an exhibition of the Telaga Air Development Master Plan during this event to convey information about the Sarawak government’s plans for this location.
“This can also showcase to the public the state government’s commitment to bringing development and sustainability to Telaga Air,” he said.
He made these remarks during the opening ceremony of the Telaga Air Regatta Festival 2023 at Telaga Air Esplanade, here, yesterday.
According to him, Telaga Air has high appeal and the potential to become one of the unique and attractive tourist destinations in this region.
“Hence, with cooperation among all residents, local authorities, and ministry officials, we can stimulate the tourism industry and the economic sector in this area.
“We (District Office) will always be ready to act as a liaison between these three important parties to further advance the Telaga Air area,” he said.
Meanwhile, he expressed excitement about the trust given to organise water sports in Telaga Air during this Regatta Festival.
“Various events and competitions were held during this period, including Quran recitation for primary schools, sepak takraw, futsal, traditional sports, decorated fishing boat competitions, and more,” he said.
Also present was Deputy Minister of Utilities and Telecommunications (Utilities) and Pantai Damai state assemblyman Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi.
