MIRI: The state government is being praised for its unwavering support of activities and cultural diversity celebrations, as it continues to promote unity and harmony among the local population.

Speaking at the Majlis Melanggar Meja and Aidilfitri open house of Subis District level here yesterday, Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan emphasised the importance of embracing multicultural diversity with series of celebrations that have taken place throughout the year.

“Starting from the beginning of the year with the Chinese New Year celebration, followed by Hari Raya Aidilfitri, and now the Dayak Gawai Dayak celebration, we are embracing multicultural diversity,” said Awang Tengah.

“It promotes cultural heritage and local ethnic celebrations, fosters cultural integration and local ethnic well-being through the organisation of programs based on customs and ethnic celebrations.”

According to him, it also contributes to intensified tourism activities and provides opportunities for improving the economic potential of the local people.

“With unity, only we can have a stable economy to ensure continuous development plans for the people,” he affirmed.

Awang Tengah, who is also the Minister of International Trade and Investment added that various development plans have been devised, with a focus on alleviating the burden and advancing the interests of the people as the main agenda of the country.

“A prosperous and peaceful country will stimulate interest and attract foreign investors to invest in our country,” he pointed out.

Also present were Awang Tengah’s wife, Datin Amar Dayang Morliah Awang Daud, Deputy Minister of Women, Childhood, and Community Development I (Women and Childhood Development) Datuk Rosey Yunus, Miri Division Resident Jamalie Busri, Subis District Officer Norlila Ulis, and local community.
