KUCHING: STM Lottery Sdn Bhd brought festive cheer to 400 needy senior citizens through its annual Chinese New Year Angpow Donation Campaign.

Kuching City South Council (MBKS) mayor Datuk Wee Hong Seng was invited to present the donation which was held at the Che Hia Khor Moral Uplifting Society Sarawak’s multi-purpose hall at Jalan Ellis, here on Saturday.

The programme was witnessed by STM Lottery Sdn Bhd senior area sales executive (Kuching A) Helen Tay from Sports Toto.

Speaking to reporters after the event, Wee welcomed contributions from the private sector and individuals to help the needy as part of their corporate social responsibility in alleviating their burden during festive seasons.

“It is not the amount of contribution that matters but rather hearts and actions.

“These are all part of a multi-racial Sarawak where culture is no barrier, and in fact, it makes other people understand each other in spite of the differences. That’s the Sarawakian spirit that we love and cherish so much,” Wee said.

“The local recipients were among 19,000 from 48 locations across the nation selected for the campaign as this is the best time for reaching out to the underprivileged, with Kuching being one of the locations,” the statement added.
