KUCHING: Politicians and leaders quit their parties or organisations when they lose hope in the struggle of their parties, said Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) vice president Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah.
He said another reason is that those leaving see the party or organisation as fighting a lost cause.
“This is exactly what is happening now in Democratic Action Party (DAP) and Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) Sarawak,” he said when commenting on several DAP grassroots leaders who had quit the party off late.
“For grassroots leaders who have been with the party for umpteen years to leave, they must have been disillusioned or frustrated with the party’s struggle and had realised its futility,” he added.
Karim said he was glad with the decision these leaders had made, describing it as better late than never.
It was reported on June 28 that former DAP Serian branch chief Edward Andrew Luwak resigned from the party saying he had lost confidence in the party’s leadership.
DAP Bunuk branch deputy chairman Sanjan Daik also announced his resignation from the party. His reason was because of the fall of Pakatan Harapan (PH) and the self-destruction of PKR that had undermined the strength of PH/DAP.
