BETONG: Firefighters from the Betong Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) had a field day on Today (Aug 9).

They responded to two calls regarding snakes in the vicinity. The second call was near the Skuyat Lama intersection at about 1.07pm.

Two snakes were tussling with each other in a pond, according to Betong Bomba chief Vincent Baling Yabi.

“One was a 1.5m-long Malayan krait and the other was a 2m-long cobra.

“Our team managed to catch the snakes using special equipment,” Vincent said, adding that the snakes were later released into the wild.

The first call earlier that morning, he said, they were asked to catch a baby snake that found its way into the premises of the Community Rehabilitation Organisation here.
