KUCHING: Hamsiah Abet, a widow and her children have expressed their sincerest appreciation to the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) state government and those involved in helping them to construct a new house at Kampung No.4, Jalan Patinggi Ali here.
Hamsiah, 75, and her three daughters have been living in a temporary house on a site next to the new house.
Hamsiah’s eldest daughter, Siti Saharama Suai, 42, said the family’s dream had become a reality after having to own a new house.
“We are indeed very grateful to GPS, Housing Development Corporation (HDC), Amcan Sdn Bhd, political secretary to the chief minister, Abdul Samat Ghani, penghulu of Kampung No.3 and No.4 Mohd Hamderi Hashim and all who have contributed in helping us to build a new home,” she told reporters during a handing over ceremony of the keys to the new house on Saturday.
“We have tried multiple times to get assistance and loans to build a house but none was approved, and we nearly gave up.
“It was a coincidence that one of my family members had met with officials from Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) which has helped to realise our dream,” she recalled.
Siti, who works as a guest service assistant at a hotel in the city here has been supporting her mother since her father passed away. Also present at the event were Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Satok deputy chairman Datuk Ibrahim Baki, HDC chief executive officer and advisor of HDC Welfare, Sports and Recreational Club Mohamad Asman Ahmad and Amcan managing director Lim San Hock.
