SPOTIFY this week brought out a Wear OS by Google app to control the music with a smartwatch. On Wednesday Spotify announced the release of a standalone app for smartwatches, Spotify Wear OS.
The application functions similarly to the already existing, but very limited, Wear OS Galaxy Watch app version, Spotify Gear, but that rendition was only available for the Gear S2 and S3 and had no offline storage capabilities or local music playback.
The new, improved, and universal Spotify Wear OS app can be downloaded on any Android smartwatch and will even come pre-installed on Fossil Gen 4 and Michael Kors Access Runway smartwatches starting next month.
Having all your music on your wrist will make changing your music while running or dancing with your friends a breeze; it will definitely be easier than fumbling with your phone for each new song.
Through the app, you can access the Discover Weekly playlist, efficiently find recently played music, and save new music for later with just the tap of your wrist.
Whichever music fits the mood can be connected to your Bluetooth headphones, of course, but also to your speakers and smart home devices via Spotify Connect.
Now, you don’t have to take your phone out to play or adjust your music. This is another example of how direct smartphone usage for daily activities is being reduced. Over the next week, the Spotify Wear OS app will become available to smartwatch users as a free download with more updates arriving shortly after. – Relaxnews
