Fine for man who filmed colleague in toilet

KUCHING: A company employee was fined RM3,500 here today for keeping a picture of a woman colleague urinating in a toilet three years ago.

Ling How Tze, 31, who works in the accounts division of the company, pleaded guilty to the charge read out before Magistrate Zubaidah Sharkawi.

He was charged under Section 292 (a) of the Penal Code with having a photograph of the 44-year-old woman at his residence in Taman Satria Jaya, BDC, here around 11pm on Sept 6, 2019.

Zubaidah ordered him to serve three months in jail if he fails to pay the fine.

According to the facts of the case, on September 6, 2019, the company manager had lodged a police report after the victim detected a small camera installed in the women’s toilet at the building in Pending.

It was found that the camera had been installed by one of the male employees to record female employees who used the toilet.

Police subsequently arrest Ling.

Investigations yielded two units of wired hidden cameras in the women’s toilet, a portable hard disk and a memory card mounted on the toilet ceiling.

The picture of the victim urinating in the toilet was found stored in Ling’s portable hard drive.

The prosecution of the case was handled by Prosecuting Officer Inspector Nur Syafiqa Nyaie Ilin while Ling was represented by lawyer Christopher Bada.
