KUCHING: The Magistrate Court has fined an Indonesian woman RM2,000 for providing sexual services.
Magistrate Zubaidah Sharkawi meted out the sentence on the accused Yurnani Oyong, 25, after she pleaded guilty after the charge was read to her.
The court sentenced the accused to two months jail term if failure to explain its fine.
According to the charge sheet, the accused was involved in prostitution at a room at Jalan Ang Cheng Ho around 2.15 pm on March 3.
She was charged under Section 372B of the Penal Code which carries a jail term up to one year or fine or both if convicted.
Based on the fact sheet, an undercover operation was conducted at the building at Jalan Ang Cheng Ho on March 3.
During the operation, a condom and money amounting to RM200 was found in the room.
The case was handled by prosecuting officer Inspector Nur Syafiqa Nyaie Ilin while the accused was unrepresented by counsel.
