JULAU: A woman was slapped with a RM3,000 compound after police found her violating the public health standard operating procedures (SOPs) by leaving her longhouse which is under the enhanced movement control order (EMCO).

The case happened last Sunday around 3.15pm when a CID team led by Insp Herda Ismail carried out SOP monitoring operations at longhouses placed under EMCO in the district.

Julau police chief DSP Andam Sulin Brayun, who confirmed the case, said the team found the 29-year-old woman attempting to leave an EMCO longhouse and her quarantine bracelet was cut off.

Investigations found that her longhouse is under EMCO from Sept 17 to 29.

“A compound of RM3,000 was issued to the woman who claimed to be going out to an eatery.

“She committed the offence under Regulation 17 (1) of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases (Measures within Local Infection) 2021, which is entering and leaving an EMCO area without permission,” he said.

Andam urged the public, especially those in EMCO areas, to always abide by the orders not to leave their areas in order to curb the transmission of Covid-19.

He warned that anyone violating the SOPs will be prosecuted.
