KUCHING: A religious goods factory at Jalan Jentera, Pending Industrial Estate, was slightly damaged in a late-night fire yesterday (Aug 26).
 
Fortunately, no injuries or casualties were reported in the 9.55pm incident.
 
A spokesman for the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said firemen from Tabuan Jaya and Padungan stations were promptly deployed to the scene, some 7 kilometres away.
 
On arrival, they found that the fire involved a pile of wooden pallets, and the extinguishing deed was performed.
 
The team managed to save the premises from total destruction, as only 20 per cent of it was damaged in the fire.
 
Once the situation was deemed safe, the team concluded the operation at 1.30am.
 
The cause of the fire and the losses incurred are still under investigation.
