MIRI: An uninhabited house was destroyed in a fire that occurred twice in Kampung Lopeng Tengah on Tuesday.
The first incident happened at around 6.55 pm when a garbage fire occurred in the house and it was extinguished by the residents nearby.
However, the second incident happened hours later at around 10.30 pm and this time, the fire had destroyed a two-storey house.
A spokesman for the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said firemen from Lopeng station were promptly despatched to the scene after receiving an emergency call.
On arrival, they found that the fire was still raging and proceeded to perform the extinguishing deed.
No injuries or casualties were reported. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
After ensuring that the situation was safe and there are no embers left at the scene, the team concluded the operation.
